The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will open several of its emblematic properties to the public on the occasion of Open Government Week, through a program of free activities that includes guided tours of the Palacio de Fomento and open house days at the castle and silo of Arévalo (Ávila).
The department's headquarters, located in the Palacio de Fomento, will offer guided tours on May 20 and 21, between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM, in which an official guide will showcase the most outstanding artistic and architectural spaces of the building. Reservations can be made from May 12 to 18.
As a novel element, this year access to the library of the Palacio de Fomento will also be allowed on May 19 and 20 at 11:00 AM. The proposal will include a review of the building's history and the exhibition of bibliographic collections of special historical relevance. The newspaper library, founded in 1933, was the second created in Spain and the first specialized in the country. To participate in this activity, it will be necessary to register before May 15.
The program is completed with open house days at the castle and the silo of Arévalo, transformed into an exhibition center dedicated to cereals, with more than 400 varieties and educational panels. Visits can be made on May 22, 23, and 24, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, without the need for prior registration.
The Open Government Week, promoted by the Open Government Partnership, will take place in Spain from May 18 to 24 with the aim of reinforcing transparency, citizen participation, and closeness between public administrations and society.
