Alsea, operator in Latin America and Europe of brands such as Vips, Starbucks, or Foster's Hollywood, recorded in the second quarter a net profit of 532 million Mexican pesos (26.8 million euros), which represents a decrease of 52.1%.

The net sales figure fell by 1%, to 21.092 billion pesos (1.062 billion euros), although, excluding the effect of exchange rates, the business showed a growth of 3.8%.

By geographical areas, the Mexican market contributed 12.160 billion pesos (612.2 million euros), 4.2% more than a year earlier. In Europe, revenue reached 5.906 billion pesos (297.4 million euros), which implies a decline of 7.4% in pesos, but an advance of 4% in local currencies. In South America, sales decreased by 7.3%, to 3.025 billion pesos (152.3 million euros).

The gross operating result (Ebitda) stood at 4.326 billion pesos (217.8 million euros), 6% below that recorded in the same period of the previous year. Of that amount, 71.9% was generated in Mexico, 20.3% in Europe, and the remaining 7.8% in South America.

As of June 30, Alsea's total debt, including lease liabilities arising from IFRS regulations, decreased by 2.351 billion pesos (118.4 million euros) year-on-year, to a balance of 50.418 billion pesos (2.538 billion euros).

The restaurant company indicated that its financial statements have been adjusted to reflect Argentine hyperinflation and have been prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Alsea recalled that in 2025 it divested Chili's and P.F. Chang's in Chile, TGI Friday's in Spain, and that, in May of this year, it completed the divestment of Archie's in Colombia. These units have been classified as discontinued operations and the figures for 2025 are presented in pro forma format.

Worldwide, the multinational manages 1,929 fast food restaurants (1,561 of Domino's Pizzas and 368 of Burger King), 1,964 Starbucks cafes, and 908 full-service restaurants (406 of Vips, 198 of Foster's Hollywood, 115 of Ginos, 76 of Italianni's, 75 of Chili's Grill & Bar, 27 of P.F. Chang's, and 11 of The Cheesecake Factory).

By country, the group totals 2,534 establishments in Mexico, 1,090 in Spain, 268 in Chile, 245 in France, 242 in Argentina, 230 in Colombia, 93 in the Netherlands, 33 in Belgium and another 33 in Portugal, in addition to 24 in Uruguay, 5 in Paraguay and 4 in Luxembourg.

"This second quarter of 2026 has posed a challenging scenario, but thanks to the diversity of our portfolio, the value of our brands and the operational excellence of our teams we have achieved an improvement compared to the market," explained the general director of Alsea, Christian Gurría.

"Specifically, in Spain we have maintained a solid and consistent contribution that has driven the results of Alsea Europe. In parallel, France has shown relevant advances and a trajectory of improvement in line with our commercial initiatives," he added.
