The Forest Agents of the Community of Madrid urge those who go out into the countryside to remain calm and not to make loud noises or sudden movements if they encounter a wild boar at close range. The goal is for the animal not to feel intimidated or cornered and, consequently, not to react violently. In addition, they emphasize the importance of always keeping dogs on a leash to prevent them from provoking the wild boar.

In a video disseminated by 112 Madrid on the social network X, the agents detail that, in the presence of a wild boar a few meters away, it is essential to avoid any sudden gesture or loud sound that could startle it, as a tense situation can trigger a charge. "Be very careful if we are with a dog, we have to keep it tied up, because otherwise the dog will incite the wild boar's attack," they point out in the recording.

If the encounter were to turn into a risky situation or an aggression occurred, the Forest Agents recommend following the guideline of "protect, alert, and assist."

For the protection phase, they advise curling up on the ground, so that the surface area of the body exposed to the animal's fangs, especially prominent in males and capable of causing serious injuries, is minimized.

Once the person is out of immediate danger, the next step is to call the emergency number 112, especially if there are injuries, and to provide assistance to the victim or to oneself in case of having suffered harm.

The Forest Agents insist on these recommendations in light of the increasingly frequent presence of wildlife in various natural spaces in the region and urge extreme caution during outdoor activities.
