Legumes are consolidating as one of the most stable foods within the shopping basket, registering only a 0.1% increase in the last twelve months, in a context where the escalation of food prices keeps consumers on alert, according to data from the Association of Legume Producers of Spain (ALE).
"This stability takes on special value in a context of increasing cost of living, as it allows families to continue incorporating a healthy, sustainable, and economical product into their daily diet, without having to give up the quality or variety of their menus," ALE has emphasized.
The organization thus responds to the latest data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), which indicate that legumes have experienced an interannual variation of barely 0.1% in the last year, well below the average increase in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, which stands at 2.2%, and also far from general inflation, which reaches 3.2%.
According to ALE, this gap with respect to other products places them among the food groups that have best withstood inflationary pressure in recent months.
