Mahou San Miguel Foundation has launched a new call for "We Create Opportunities," its training and employability program for young people who wish to orient their professional career towards hospitality. The initiative, which is developed in seven autonomous communities and achieves a labor insertion rate of 90%, has been put back into operation, according to the entity's communication.
In this academic year, the project is taught in ten educational centers distributed across seven autonomous communities: Madrid (Higher School of Hospitality and Tourism of Madrid, CIFP School of Hospitality and Tourism Simone Ortega and I.E.S. School of Hospitality and Tourism Alcalá de Henares), Barcelona (Institut Escola Hotelería i Turisme de Barcelona INS EHTB) and Valencia (CIPFP Ciudad del Aprendiz).
Likewise, the centers of Granada (CPIFP Hurtado de Mendoza), Burgos (School of Hospitality and Tourism La Flora), Toledo (I.E.S. Universidad Laboral de Toledo), Guadalajara (CIFP Nº1 de Guadalajara) and Santiago de Compostela (CIFP Compostela) participate. In these, students can take the Intermediate Degree in Restoration Services, combining classroom lessons with practical training in recognized hospitality establishments.
There are still vacancies in several of the centers for young people interested in joining the program. During the month of September, they will be able to formalize their registration in the extraordinary period by going directly to the school in the autonomous community where they wish to study.
Academic support and scholarships to continue training
The purpose of "We Create Opportunities" is for participants not only to receive specific training but also to see hospitality as a real alternative for stable professional development. To this end, Mahou San Miguel Foundation provides support throughout the different phases of the itinerary.
With the backing of Fundación Exit, students have individualized support that facilitates their persistence in studies and access to internships in reference hospitality companies. After completing this stage, they can remain linked to the sector through Linkados, the Alumni community of the Foundation, which offers them new options for professional growth through the Scholarship program and the Employment Exchange of the entity.
Those who finish the Intermediate Degree in Restaurant Services and wish to continue advancing can pursue a Higher Degree in Hospitality, also with the support of the scholarships from the Mahou San Miguel Foundation. Thus, the program configures a path that transcends initial training and supports the academic and professional evolution of young people.
Since its launch in 2014, "We Create Opportunities" has accompanied more than 3,200 young people across the country, in collaboration with 700 hospitality businesses, achieving a job placement rate of 90%.
Success Stories in the Sector
The experience of Daniela Vargas (27 years old) illustrates the impact of the program. She trained at the La Flora School of Hospitality and Tourism in Burgos, won the silver medal at the 2026 International Barista Championship for Hospitality Schools, and completed her internship at the Burgos restaurant Maricastaña, where she was offered a contract and currently works as a waitress.
"We Create Opportunities helped me find my way in Spain. I had worked in hospitality amateurly in Colombia while studying at university. When I started the restaurant cycle, I wanted to improve my professional prospects and my quality of life. Hospitality has changed a lot and We Create Opportunities prepares you for those new challenges. Moreover, it opens many doors because it offers you different training possibilities - bartending, barista, etc. - while helping you find work," she explained.
The program has also been decisive for the trajectory of Jhosue López Zárate, a student at the Higher School of Hospitality and Tourism of Madrid who participated in "We Create Opportunities" in 2024. After completing his studies, he did his internship at the Madrid restaurant Mar y Tierra, where he later joined the staff and continues to work as a waiter.
"We Create Opportunities prepared me to face the job market with more confidence, it taught me to overcome shyness. The follow-up and support you receive throughout the process make it so that when the time comes to start working, you are not afraid. I am here thanks to that opportunity and I would recommend it because it helps you grow and learn in a different way," he stated.
