The counselor of Agriculture, Fishing, Water, and Rural Development, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco, has announced this Sunday that his department will launch in September a call for aid worth ten million euros aimed at farmers from four Andalusian provinces whose almond farms suffered significant losses and damages due to the frosts.
From Albánchez (Almería), where he has attended to the media, the counselor has thus ratified the commitment reached with the sector last June, when the Administration and producers agreed to implement this line of economic support. In this context, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco has emphasized that "the Junta de Andalucía is a municipalist government, useful and accessible to all, both for farmers and ranchers, as well as for municipalities and towns, regardless of their size."
The head of Agriculture has insisted that "from the Junta de Andalucía we want to accompany you and help you with all the challenges that arise and continue to be a useful and accessible administration. We are a municipalist government that believes that policies should be designed from the ground up by and for the Andalusians, and we will continue to do so in this new legislature," words he pronounced during the patronal festivities in honor of San Roque.
At the event, he was supported by the mayor of Albánchez, Amador López, and by the Government delegate in Almería, Paco Góngora. Fernández-Pacheco has also emphasized that "the devotion celebrated around San Roque is not just a festival in itself, it is a symbol of the tradition of a predominantly agricultural municipality where dryland farming and extensive livestock are two main sources of employment and social and territorial cohesion. This festival coincides with the end of the early almond harvest, a crop that concentrates 32% of the national production only in Andalusia."
