The Intersindical Galega (CIG) has demanded that the negotiation table for the seafood elaborates collective agreement be convened immediately, as the pre-agreement reached between employers and Comisiones Obreras (CC.OO.) and UGT more than a month ago remains unsigned.
In a statement sent to the media, the CIG recalled that the talks concluded in March and that, since that date, "there is no news that the table for the signing of the text agreed upon by CC.OO., UGT, and the employers has been convened or considered for convening."
For the nationalist union, the current deadlock "constitutes a new absurdity" in the process of "capitulation" by the state trade union organizations, "which in June of last year signed an economic agreement to demobilize the sector that did not represent any economic progress for the staff."
According to the CIG, "They also agreed that the next meeting would be in October, but it didn't happen until December, and that was because the CIG pressured for the meeting to take place as soon as possible. After that meeting, the following ones were a sham and a waste of time, with no progress in negotiations until March 3, when they reached an agreement in half an hour," the union criticized.
That agreement, according to the CIG's assessment, "maintains precariousness in the sector." "The staff will have their hands tied for five years and will not be able to do anything despite the lack of real progress in rights. Salary increases remain below the real cost of living, consolidating the loss of purchasing power," the organization denounces.
