The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has launched an extraordinary line of aid endowed with 100 million euros aimed at holders of agricultural holdings and operators of the agri-food and fishing sector affected by the storms recorded in January and February, with special impact in Andalusia and Extremadura.

As published today by the Official State Gazette (BOE), this line reserves 75 million euros to subsidize up to 15% of the principal of the loans from the Official Credit Institute (ICO) and another 25 million to cover the cost of the guarantees from the State Agricultural Guarantee Public Limited Company (Saeca) necessary to access said financing. With this scheme, it is estimated that the total volume of credit that could be mobilized would reach 500 million euros.

The aid will be processed under a direct grant regime, attending to the order of arrival of applications, and fall into the category of de minimis aid. Potential beneficiaries may opt for a maximum bonus of 15,000 euros for each formalized credit, with a repayment period of up to 15 years and grace periods that may extend up to three years. To be eligible for these aids, holders must obtain at least 50% of their income from agricultural activity and have an agricultural insurance policy or commit to contracting one.

The deadline to submit applications will open tomorrow, April 8, and will remain available until September 30, 2027. This initiative is integrated into the support package articulated by the Government to sustain the viability and favor the recovery of farms and operators affected by the strong storms that hit the south and west of Spain.
