The Ministry of Rural Affairs and Agricultural Policy of the Asturian Government has stated this Thursday that the recent ruling by the Superior Court of Justice of Asturias (TSJA), which annuls the second Wolf Management Plan, will have "no real impact" on how the species is currently being managed in the community.
Department sources explain that the judicial resolution "refers solely to the annulment of the resolution of the wolf control program corresponding to the 2025-2026 period which is no longer in force at present". They add that "it is an expected ruling, given that the Supreme Court annuls article 7.5 a) of the II Wolf Management Plan; and not the wolf plan in its entirety".
Therefore, from the ministry headed by Marcelino Marcos they underline that this ruling "has no real impact on the current situation, nor does it condition the management being carried out by the Government of the Principality of Asturias".
Along the same lines, they recall that the planned lines of action and the roadmap set by the regional Executive "are moving forward normally". They insist that "this is a ruling on an instrument that has already been superseded, which in no way affects current action".
