The Pablo de Olavide University of Seville launches this Friday, May 8, the I International Congress on World Food Policy, an academic and professional event that for two days will bring together specialists from universities, international organizations, public administrations, and social organizations on the UPO campus with the aim of analyzing and debating the current challenges of global food security.
According to the university center in an informational note, the meeting will be held under the theme "Policy realignment in response to global challenges" and will focus on issues such as food governance, the human right to food, gender equality, nutrition, public health, sustainable agriculture, climate change, armed conflicts, and international cooperation.
The opening session will feature the participation of the president of the Organizing Committee and professor at the UPO, Alfonso Sánchez Carrasco; the head of the Political Science and Administration Area of the Department of Public Law, José Manuel Trujillo; the executive director of the "Policy Studies Organization", Daniel I. Gutiérrez-Sandoval; the technical advisor of the General Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Food of the Junta de Andalucía, Juan Antonio Jaén Téllez, and the head of the Food Law team of the FAO, Juan Echanove.
The congress, scheduled for May 8 and 9, is co-organized by the "Policy Studies Organization", the Department of Political Science and Administration of the Pablo de Olavide University and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and also has the collaboration of various national and international entities.
