The counselor of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, Pablo Rodríguez, reported this Tuesday that within a week the contract for the execution of the third lane of the TF-5 in the section between Los Rodeos and Guamasa will be formalized, so that the works can begin, at the latest, one month after the signing.

In response to a question raised by the Nationalist Group, he emphasized that we are "very close" to the start of works that are expected to last 36 months and have a budget of 58.2 million euros, after being awarded to the UTE Ferrovial-Asyota.

Rodríguez highlighted that this project represents a "very important" milestone for the improvement of the road network of the island of Tenerife, as it will increase the capacity of the highway at a point where a "bottleneck" currently occurs for vehicles accessing from the north.

For his part, Jonathan Martín (CC) recalled that it is "a long-awaited and demanded work" after four years "absolutely blank" and stressed the need to "move from words to shovels and works." In addition, he requested that a "technical follow-up" of the execution be carried out, given that "inconveniences" for users of the road are expected and it is essential to avoid "more traffic jams."
