The candidate for investiture and acting president of the Board of Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, has held the spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Carlos Martínez, responsible for "adding fuel to the fire" with the "political use" of the fires, an accusation that the PSOE leader in the Community has demanded he withdraw "out of decency".
The management of the fires has been a central part of the first face-to-face encounter between the two in the regional Parliament during the investiture debate of the PP candidate. In this context, Fernández Mañueco has reproached Martínez for sharing the "bad manners" of the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente.
"He was quick to get into the mud to splash around as much as anyone," stated the acting president, who even questioned the socialist spokesperson about whether he "wishes for fires to occur." "This is what they have to contribute to the fight against fires, adding fuel to the fire," he insisted.
In response to these words, Carlos Martínez has demanded that the head of the regional Executive withdraw these expressions from the official record "out of decency," which ultimately did not happen, and added: "If there is anyone responsible for the fires throughout this summer, who was eating prawns in Cádiz, it is you, you are responsible."
In this way, Martínez has attributed to Fernández Mañueco the act of "ignoring" the Fire Prevention and Extinction Service and has censured his forestry management, which he has described as "terrible," concerning mountains where, as he has denounced, "not a single measure has been taken" for this summer.
