The first vice-president of the Junta and counselor of Deregulation, Family and Social Aid, Carlos Pollán, of Vox, has responded this Monday to the criticisms from the opposition groups regarding the concept of "national priority" that will guide his department's policies, rejecting that said principle has a xenophobic character.
"National priority is not xenophobic, it does not discriminate based on origin," Carlos Pollán assured in his speech, emphasizing that any person in a legal situation in Spain will be able to access aid, given that the assessment criteria will value ties to the territory, roots, or contribution time.
"It does not mean that any foreigner in a legal situation who meets the requirements will not be able to access that aid, the concept of national priority does not say that," reiterated the vice-president of the Junta, adding: "If they meet and have more points in the scales that are established, of course they will also be able to do so." "There is no doubt," he added.
The first vice-president of the Junta also stressed that the principle of national priority will respect the law "from the first moment" and pointed out that Vox's proposal consists "simply" of a "rephrasing" of the assessment criteria for aid which, "until now, tend to favor foreigners more than Spaniards."
