The president of the Comuns group in the Parliament, Jéssica Albiach, has demanded this Tuesday from the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, to shorten to two years the schedule of the climate plan for public educational centers, instead of extending it to 2030, considering it a perfectly manageable measure.

"Someone who starts secondary school now can spend 4 years without air conditioning in the classrooms. That is why we ask Illa to accelerate and to do what he has announced he will do in 4 years in two. We know it can be done. It's easy, but in the end, doing politics is also about prioritizing," she highlighted at a press conference in the Catalan Chamber.

Albiach values that the head of the Catalan Executive has finally addressed the demands of the educational community, although she reproaches that he has done it too late, when, in her words, he already had "water up to his neck." In this context, she has also urged him to unblock the processing of the proposal promoted by CC.OO. that seeks for investment in education to reach 6%.

"Illa would do well to look more at the present and not so much at 2030. For people, the future is not a slogan but whether they will arrive on time to work, if they can pay rent, or if their children can go to a quality school," she emphasized.

For this reason, she has accused the Catalan president of confusing the message of optimism and hope he wanted to convey with "an excess of triumphalism, lack of self-criticism, and, at times, lack of empathy."

Barcelona Airport and Climate Goals

In relation to airport infrastructure, Albiach has criticized that the president of the Generalitat maintains his commitment to the expansion of Barcelona - El Prat Airport, considering that it clashes head-on with current climate commitments: "The expansion will not happen and we will stop it in Europe."

Coinciding with the expectation that the Council of Ministers will give the green light this Tuesday to the Airport Regulation Document III (Dora), the leader of the Comuns has emphasized that this planning moves forward "only with the support of the socialist part of the Government."

"It's curious how they start to put money on the table when the reports and environmental assessments are still pending. And the phases of the works are also not specified," the parliamentary leader of the Comuns has specified, who has recalled the demonstration called this Sunday against the expansion.
