The Junts group in the Parliament has registered a formal request for the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, to appear in the Catalan Chamber in order to explain and "clarify the Government's contracts with Chinese companies, following police reports on the alleged actions of the former President of the Spanish Government José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero".
In a note released this Wednesday, the 'juntaires' also demand that Illa detail all "possible actions that may have had repercussions in Catalonia and in the public procurement of the Catalan administration".
The request for appearance comes after "published reports on alleged transfers received by Zapatero from the Chinese company Huawei and possible annotations linked to public contracts with the Spanish Government".
Carles Puigdemont's party considers it "especially necessary" for the Catalan president to clarify the scope of the Government's institutional and contractual relations with Huawei, after this company was awarded the deployment and management of fiber optic infrastructure linked to essential public services.
Junts has emphasized that in October 2025 it already warned that the Government had formalized a contract for 127 million euros with Huawei, with which the Government "intends to sell the data of all Catalans in a context where the EU has advised all member states to stop working and contracting services" with this Chinese company.
The parliamentary group has also pointed out the existence of police reports that "indicate that Zapatero would have tried to negotiate a 3% commission for the construction of Hard Rock in Vila-Seca and Salou", for which they demand maximum transparency and call for Illa to appear before the Parliament as quickly as possible.
