More Madrid has registered in the Assembly of Madrid a set of proposals focused on the Ramón y Cajal Hospital, among which includes the demand for "real data," the appearance of its manager, Carlos Mingo, and for the Court of Auditors to carry out a specific audit.
The spokesperson for Health of the party in the regional Chamber, Marta Carmona, has conveyed in statements sent to the media that she considers the information pointing to a supposed "makeup" of the waiting lists in this public hospital to be "very serious."
In her opinion, "the lives of patients are being put at risk in an absolutely unnecessary way" and this would show that the Ministry of Health "is managing with its back to the health needs of the people of Madrid."
According to what was published by the newspaper El País, two medical chiefs of the hospital would have downplayed the clinical severity of certain patients to improve the figures of the surgical waiting lists without the knowledge of the rest of the healthcare staff, based on documentation and emails provided by the surgeon Alberto Martos, who internally reported the facts to the management without receiving a response. The Community defended this Tuesday that in the region "the waiting lists are not falsified," in response to the accusations made by a professional from the Ramón y Cajal Hospital "who has an open disciplinary file" previously.
In this context, More Madrid has demanded to be able to consult "the real data of the waiting times" and not those that, according to their complaints, would be prepared to make "a favorable picture." Regarding the appearance of the manager, the party wants it to focus on clarifying "what pressures from the Community they receive."
Regarding the audit by the Court of Auditors, Carmona has emphasized that it is the "competent body to carry out an external audit of the waiting lists in the Madrid Health Service."
"It is absolutely intolerable that in the Community of Madrid there are dealings of this type and the Ministry of Health has many explanations to give," concluded the spokesperson for More Madrid on health matters.
