The PSOE spokesperson in the Assembly of Madrid, Mar Espinar, has again criticized that the Executive of the Community of Madrid has not yet incorporated into the Transparency Portal the breakdown of expenses related to the trip that the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, made to Mexico at the beginning of this month.
"Mrs. Ayuso has a problem because she is confusing transparency with invisibility," Espinar denounced to the media at the press conference after the Spokespersons' Board, where she stressed that the last available update is from March 31 and that the costs are not listed in the travel section.
As she indicated, for now only amounts related to the use of the VIP lounge at different airports are reflected, which in some cases exceed 2,000 euros, a concept that she also rejects. "Who is she going with or what the hell are they drinking in the VIP lounge before getting on the plane?" she asked.
In this regard, she insisted that the expenses of institutional travel "must be published" and that, if they are not assumed by the Community, they must be duly accredited, since "there are very few exceptions in which it can be justified that a private entity pays for a trip for a public official."
"She has stated without blushing on many occasions that the vast majority of these trips are not paid for by the people of Madrid. And it is not the same to pay as to have it paid for you," warned the socialist, who recalled what is written in the Code of Ethics for Senior Officials and even raised doubts "beyond" it.
For the socialists, "the line between an institutional trip and a gifted trip is very blurred," and she stressed that the Madrid president must offer explanations if the trips "are being paid for by a third party." "She has to say who, for what, and in exchange for what," she added.
Finally, Espinar questioned the real "usefulness" of these official visits by the president, suggesting that they respond to personal interests and "allow her to shirk responsibility every time someone from her circle is testifying before the Justice system and allows her to visit places where her boyfriend has businesses."
