The general secretary of the PSPV, Diana Morant, has stated that "the PP has already agreed on some amendments with Vox" for the Generalitat's budgets for 2026. In her opinion, the 'popular' party will end up accepting the "priorities" set by Abascal's party, which will translate into "budget cuts" with the aim of "Juanfran Pérez Llorca continuing as 'president'.
After holding a meeting with the socialist group in Les Corts, Morant announced that the PSPV will submit amendments to the Consell's draft accounts. She described these proposals as "an alternative budget to Llorca's" which will incorporate the demands of Valencian teachers, who are now facing their fourth week of indefinite strike.
"We do not trust the accounts presented by the Consell because, just as they have done in previous years, they will end up amending themselves to address the demands of their partners in Vox," she pointed out to the media in the ficus of Les Corts, criticizing the way the regional Executive has managed previous fiscal years.
The socialist leader stressed that "Pérez Llorca's Popular Party has renounced everything that matters to Valencians because its only priority is to look good to Vox and remain 'president'," and reiterated that "their cuts are causing problems for public services." In this regard, she underlined that in chapters such as housing or educational infrastructure, "the budget is lower than the last one from Botànic in 2023."
Furthermore, she predicted that the new accounts will once again incorporate "ideological cuts imposed by Vox" in areas such as the fight against gender-based violence, historical memory, linguistic policy, climate change, or the Valencian Language Academy (AVL). In her view, this budgetary project constitutes "a version 2.0 of Mazón's budgets, but also a version 2.0 of Zaplana's or Camps' budgets."
"Bullfighting, a priority in Emergencies" and the teachers' strike
Regarding the allocations for bullfighting events, Morant has censured that "it cannot be that we see again that the priority in Emergencies continues to be bulls. It is even insulting, after what has happened here in the Valencian Community," in reference to the aid of more than one million euros destined for 'bous al carrer' and the Lidia Bull Foundation included in the budget of the Ministry of Emergencies and Interior, and alluding to the last DANA.
In relation to the educational conflict, the also Minister of Science and Universities has once again demanded of Llorca that "he has to get out of where he is and resolve a problem that he has created": "Let him take charge of this educational crisis and stop insulting and calling teachers lazy. They have created this situation and they are the ones who have to resolve it."
The PP avoids commenting on Vox's conditions
On the other hand, in subsequent statements to the media in Les Corts, the deputy spokesperson for the PP, Nieves Martínez, refused to comment on the words of the spokesperson for Vox, José Mª Llanos, who warned that if the national priority – putting Spaniards first in access to public aid or housing – is not included in the budgets, his group will not support them.
When asked if the PP and Vox have already agreed to incorporate the national priority into the accounts and new cuts to the AVL, as Llanos maintained, Martínez limited herself to recalling that the amendment phase has not yet begun, given that the councilors continue to present the detailed figures of their departments this Wednesday and Thursday.
