The general secretary of the PSPV and minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, has assured that she has the duty and obligation to "denounce and condemn" the "machista aggression" of the president of the Diputació de València and leader of the PP in the province, Vicent Mompó, for having called her "lameculos". She has also announced that Valencian socialism will analyze the adoption of "political" measures against the 'popular' leader, considering that "The response cannot be normalized".
Morant has interpreted that Mompó is "nervous" because "he feels trapped" by his management of the day of the dana and, at the same time, "wants to play the game of the Comunitat Valenciana" in "that internal struggle" of the PPCV: "They are in their hunger games and that rage he directed against me".
These statements were made this Monday at the PSPV headquarters, days after Mompó called her "lameculos" of the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in a message on social networks, in which he also told her: "You are worth nothing, that clear".
The socialist leader has admitted that those expressions could be due to a "hot moment" of the PP leader, but has demanded to "differentiate when one plays the victim from when one is a victim of a machista aggression". "And I have been a victim of a machista aggression by the president of the Diputació de València," she has stated.
Morant has linked Mompó's behavior to the "nervousness" caused by the "criminal charge" derived from his "responsibility for what he did not do on the day of the dana" of October 29, 2024, a matter to which she referred in the 'tweet' she directed to him, she has specified. From there, she has criticized that responding "with insults and with machismo" as Mompó did "must be banished from politics". "We cannot normalize it," she has reiterated.
In this line, she has emphasized that when there is "an aggression or behaviors outside the values of current society" she has the obligation to denounce them, even if they occur within the PSPV itself. She has stressed that it is not "the first time" she has experienced an episode of this type with Mompó and has recalled that, in the last week, the PP spokesperson, Nando Pastor, called her "bipolar" and that a few months ago the first vice president of the Consell, Susana Camarero, "said that the Government is full of prostitutes".
Morant denounces an escalation of disqualifications
"This escalation must be denounced and condemned, that is why we have made it public. We did not want it to go unnoticed," emphasized the leader of the PSPV, who distinguished Mompó's words from the "legitimate political criticism" that, according to her, he made in his 'tweet', focused on the "abandonment" of the president of the Diputació on the day of the dana. She insisted that "He was warned by his own institution and did not warn the Valencians, only his family environment," and defended that her reproach is "legitimate," while "the response cannot be normalized."
In her message on the social network 'X' last Thursday, Morant responded to a journalistic report about the report from the Human Resources Department of the Diputació sent to the judge of Catarroja who is investigating the management of the dana. "So clear: the Diputació warned its workers and suspended activities due to the dana. Its president, who was in the Cecopi, knew it. Mompó knew the preventive measures, but decided to warn only his environment. The rest of the Valencians, no," she pointed out.
Mompó replied on Friday to the minister's 'tweet': "The sane Valencians were trying to help. Instead, you appeared two days later in the helicopter of Pedro Sánchez, the one who said 'If they want more resources, let them ask for them.' Everyone knows that, in the tragedies we have suffered, you have been much more concerned about where the cameras are than about the affected people." He then added: "Diana, you will always be Zapatero's daughter, Sánchez's bootlicker. You are worth nothing, that clear."
The PSPV will study a political response
The general secretary of the Valencian socialists has accused Mompó of "dehumanizing" and treating women in a "machista" manner, and has stated that these behaviors "do not represent today's society." "I do not even ask him to apologize, because I am not going to excuse him, I ask for accountability," she specified.
In this context, she announced that the PSPV will analyze in its Consell de les Dones what reaction to adopt "in the face of these attitudes that have no place in today's society." "They will be political proposals," she indicated, claiming at the same time that in her party "women have their own voice."
Questioned about whether she considers the insult "lameculos" used by Vicent Mompó more serious or the term "inútil" used on occasions by the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, the leader of the PSPV has clarified that the latter means "that you are not useful" and has admitted to having used it at some point, for example to refer to the "by the Valencian government at the worst moment" and to criticize "the useless policy and those who practice it." "But I have never used Mompó's expression," she emphasized.
She has attributed, in any case, the words of the president of the Diputació to a "hot moment" because it "hurt" him: "For different reasons he feels trapped and different lies have pointed him out, like the judge herself" from Catarroja who is investigating the management of the dana. "He is nervous," she pointed out about the leader of the PP.
To conclude, Morant has expressed her concern that "these people use that language at home and that their children learn it." "I am not going to normalize it and I will continue to denounce it publicly, it is part of my job," the Minister of Science has assured.
