The man who was allegedly attacked from behind with a corkscrew by another man after rejecting sexual advances has denied on Monday having previously threatened the accused with a knife.

This was stated during the first day of the oral hearing that is taking place between this Monday and Tuesday in the Second Section of the Provincial Court of Balearic Islands.

The Public Prosecutor's Office is seeking a sentence of 15 years in prison for the accused, who will testify last, and the payment of compensation exceeding 20,000 euros, considering him allegedly responsible for a crime of attempted murder.

The victim recounted that, after having a chat in a bar near the Plaza de las Columnas in Palma, they both went up to a room he had rented, where they consumed beers and whiskey until they were "very drunk."

The victim admitted to carrying a knife, but insisted that he did not use it to intimidate the suspect and also denied making any sexual proposition to the accused.

According to his testimony, it was the accused who started touching his leg, at which point he moved away and tried to leave the room. "He starts touching me and I react. As I move towards the door, I felt the stabs in my back," he stated.

The victim's acquaintance, who rented him the room and went up to the rooftop "after hearing two loud bangs," found the victim covered in blood, while the suspect was asking for forgiveness and trying to press the wounds with a t-shirt. According to this witness, the now accused begged them not to call the police.

According to the prosecutor's indictment, the events took place on the morning of February 2, 2025, on the rooftop of a building in the Balearic capital.

The accused, always according to the Public Prosecutor's version, touched his leg for sexual purposes and, after being rejected and receiving a push, reacted by attacking him from behind and stabbing him several times — in the side, head, and chest — with a corkscrew.
