National Police agents have arrested a man of about 30 years old in Burgos as the alleged perpetrator of four robberies with violence and/or intimidation, all of them carried out in the Gamonal neighborhood of the capital against middle-aged women, in addition to sexually touching one of the victims, according to police sources told Europa Press.
On May 30, early in the morning, a woman was returning to her home on a well-known avenue in said neighborhood after walking her dog. The now arrested man approached and petted the animal, a deliberate maneuver with which he sought to gain the victim's trust, who entered the portal of her house.
Once inside, the aggressor took advantage of the situation to intimidate her violently and demand "gold." He managed to get a ring and the earrings she was wearing. In addition, during the assault, he sexually touched the woman.
Days later, on Saturday, June 6, this individual, according to the police report sent to the judicial authority, and always allegedly, carried out three more robberies with intimidation consecutively, repeating a similar 'modus operandi'. Around 10:00 a.m., he intercepted a woman in the elevator of the building where she resides, after sneaking in with her when she entered, and snatched a chain from her neck and her handbag with a tug, appropriating several of her belongings.
About 30 minutes later, he attacked another woman in the street and surprisingly snatched a necklace from her, of which he took part, to escape running immediately afterward.
Finally, around 10:45 a.m., he targeted a third victim on a street near the previous one, whom he followed for a few meters and, in the same way, managed to steal the necklace she was wearing. During this interval and with knowledge of the facts, several National Police patrols attended to the victims and gathered detailed information about what happened and about the physical and clothing characteristics of the alleged aggressor, which coincided in all cases.
Just a few minutes later, the agents managed to locate him, identify him, and proceed with his arrest a short distance from the places where the crimes had been committed, in an area near his home, located a few hundred meters away.
After completing the investigative proceedings that link the arrested person to these four violent episodes, the man was placed at the disposal of the competent Court of Instance-Instruction Section, whose Authority has ordered his pre-trial detention.
