The Provincial Court of Lleida has imposed a sentence of 7 and a half years in prison and a fine of 28 million euros on an agent of the Mossos d'Esquadra, considering him a necessary cooperator in a drug trafficking offense for his role in a network that introduced 620 kilos of cocaine from Panama.
The judicial resolution, to which Europa Press has had access and which "Segre" advanced, also imposes sentences of between 2 and 6 years in prison on the other 4 defendants, in addition to economic sanctions ranging between 11 and 22 million euros, totaling 66 million, depending on each person's involvement in the events.
According to the court, it has been proven that the mosso provided support to the criminal organization "by financing the drug trafficking operation" through payments exceeding 85,000 euros to enable the importation of the cocaine finally seized.
These payments were "disguised" with a network of invoices between companies linked to the defendants, simulating work that was never done, and were intended for investment in the narcotic substance, which traveled from Panama hidden inside a rotor, within a shipping container that entered through the port of Barcelona and was later transferred to Lleida.
The court also considers it proven that the Mossos agent was the one who "handled the rental arrangements" for the industrial warehouse where the drug was stored, whose value on the illicit market exceeded 22 million euros.
