The CD Tenerife footballer Maikel Mesa was arrested by agents of the National Police and faces a fast-track trial in the courts of La Laguna, accused of allegedly participating in the assault of a man and the robbery of his mobile phone last Sunday night, along with two other people.
According to Local Police of La Laguna sources, the incident took place around 10:30 p.m., when a patrol received a call to go to the parking lot on Manuel de Osuna street due to an alert of a possible assault in the area.
When the municipal agents arrived at the scene, a National Police unit was already there assisting the affected man, who stated that, while walking down Herradores street, he was confronted and beaten by three individuals who stole his mobile phone. The complainant provided the agents with the physical description of the alleged perpetrators, as well as the license plate of the vehicle in which they left the scene.
Subsequently, the victim went to a health center to be treated for his injuries and then filed the corresponding complaint. The parking lot's video surveillance cameras may have recorded part of what happened, which would support the investigation.
Following the investigations carried out by the Local Police, the alleged involved parties were located, and they went to the municipal facilities to proceed with their formal identification.
The stolen mobile phone was finally recovered, and the proceedings were sent to the National Police Force to continue with the judicial procedure.
