The Prosecutor's Office requests sentences totaling 27 years in prison for two men accused of taking the life of a man and stealing various items from his home, in acts in which a woman also allegedly participated, for whom 17 years in prison are requested as an alleged accomplice. The trial is scheduled for next week in the Third Section of the Provincial Court of Córdoba.
According to the Public Ministry's indictment, the three defendants knew the victim beforehand and had established a relationship of some trust with him. As a result of this relationship, the man allowed them to stay in his house, where the three settled for a time.
At an indeterminate time one night, when the four were in the house, "for reasons not clarified," the two main defendants "by force" led the victim to a small bedroom next to the living room.
Once in that room, they threw him onto a mattress and, "lying down and not expecting the attack, both defendants, 'with the intention of ending his life or seriously assuming that possibility,' began to hit him with punches and kicks to the body and face, with one of them using 'an iron crossbar that was in the room with which he repeatedly hit him on the head and body'.
Next, the two defendants covered his nose and mouth to prevent him from calling for help and, as a result of the assault, the man died. The three defendants remained in the property and, when they considered they would not be seen, they left the house taking two gold chains, a pair of sports shoes, a mobile phone belonging to the victim, and a set of house keys, which they allegedly stole by mutual agreement, taking advantage of the fact that the man lay dead. The stolen items have been valued at 193 euros.
Subsequently, one of the defendants, acting by mutual agreement with the other two, used the stolen set of keys to re-enter the home and take possession of a television with its remote control, valued at 200 euros. The three were later arrested in possession of the gold chains, the sneakers, the mobile phone, and the stolen television remote control.
In addition to the prison sentences requested for the two men and the woman, the Public Ministry demands that they be imposed a measure of ten years of supervised release.
