The Prosecutor's Office has requested this Thursday the imposition of seven years in prison and a fine of 180,000 euros for a man accused of dealing ketamine and cannabis in Gijón.
As reported by the Public Prosecutor's Office in a press release, the oral hearing took place this Thursday in the Eighth Section of the Provincial Court of Asturias, based in Gijón.
According to the prosecution's brief, the accused, born in 1985, was intercepted around 11:20 a.m. on April 25, 2025, by agents of the Narcotics Group of the Judicial Police of Gijón as he was leaving his home in Gijón with a black backpack on his shoulder.
Inside said backpack, he was carrying a bag with ketamine, with a net weight of 1,360 grams, a purity of 53 percent, and a value on the illicit market of 66,993.60 euros if sold by grams, a substance that, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the defendant had in his possession with the intention of selling it.
Following the arrest, entry and search of the accused's home were authorized, where agents seized various substances: cannabis buds, with a net weight of 1,555 grams and a value of 9,765.40 euros; cannabis resin, with a weight of 30.71 grams and a value of 209.75 euros; and another batch of cannabis resin, with a weight of 94.5 grams and a value of 645.44 euros.
In the dwelling, two precision scales and 30 euros in cash were also found, which the Prosecutor's Office attributes to money obtained from previous drug sales. The total value of all seized substances amounts to 77,614.19 euros.
The Public Prosecutor's Office considers that these acts constitute a crime against public health, specifically the dealing of narcotic drugs that do not cause serious harm to health, and narcotic drugs that do cause serious harm to health, linked in the latter case to drug trafficking of notorious importance, under Article 368, first paragraph, penultimate clause, of the Penal Code, in relation to Articles 369.1.5ª, 374, and 377. In addition to the prison sentence, the Prosecutor's Office requests that the accused bear the costs of the proceedings.
