The Fallas of València 2026 point to a certain fundamental change in the typical Fallas satire. The festival continues to look at politics, but it no longer does so only in a local or national key but that the global conflicts, technological debates and structural social tensions have crept in significantly into its theme, drawing a more complex radiography of the current political moment

The Fallas monuments live their last hours before becoming fodder for the fire and this year, in addition to caricaturing Spanish leaders, the Fallas have put much focus on a narrative where the international, the economic and the social intertwine.

From national politics to the global board

Spanish politics remains present —with figures like Pedro Sánchez or Alberto Núñez Feijóo converted into ninots—, but has lost centrality in the face of a broader context. International geopolitics, especially the conflicts in the Middle East, has occupied a prominent space in numerous monuments. Scenes of war, international leaders, and references to global tensions have been represented with the satirical Fallas language.

The politics that affect citizens are no longer decided only in Madrid, but on a global board, and that is reflected in the Fallas theme.

Artificial intelligence and technology: the new political front

One of the clearest novelties of 2026 is the irruption of artificial intelligence as a Fallas theme. The artists have incorporated scenes that reflect the fear of job replacement, disinformation on networks, and the power of algorithms.

Technology stops being a neutral element to become an object of political criticism, especially in relation to the control of information and the impact on employment.

Social crisis: housing, inequality and cost of living

In parallel, the Fallas 2026 maintain their social root with constant references to structural problems: access to housing, economic precarity and increase in the cost of living.

These themes do not always appear as the central axis of the monument, but rather as a recurrent backdrop, integrated into everyday scenes that connect with the experience of citizens. Satire no longer points only to the politician, but to the system.

Tourism, city and urban conflict

Especially in Valencia, the city model has been another of the great axes of these Fallas, which have reflected tourist saturation, the loss of neighborhood identity and the tension generated between residents and visitors.

At this point, the criticism connects directly with urban life and with debates that affect other large Spanish cities.

Feminism, climate and rights: the transversal agenda

Other topics that have appeared transversally in the different monuments this year are those of gender equality and feminism, climate change, and social rights. They are part of an expanded political agenda, more diverse and connected with contemporary debates.

It increasingly seems that the Fallas broaden their critical gaze, registering a change of scale. Less municipal politics, national figures and concrete scandals to make way for global dynamics, economic transformations and structural social conflicts

The result is a more complex critique, where the local and the global mix. The party as a mirror of a globalized politics, as an interconnected system that crosses all spheres of life.
