The acting spokesperson for the Andalusian government, Carolina España (PP-A), has called on the PSOE-A general secretary and PSOE federal deputy general secretary, María Jesús Montero, this Wednesday to offer "explanations" about "the scandals that splash her from top to bottom" before she begins her opposition work in the Andalusian Parliament.
The also acting head of Economy, Finance, European Funds and Social Dialogue made these statements at the press conference following the weekly meeting of the PP-A Governing Council, the first to be held after the death last week of the former Minister of University, Research and Innovation, José Carlos Gómez Villamandos, a session that began with a minute of silence in his memory.
España recalled that, after the Andalusian elections on May 17, in which the PP-A won 53 deputies, falling two short of revalidating the absolute majority it obtained in 2022, while the PSOE-A won 28 seats, "it is clear that the opposition work corresponds to the Socialist Party."
However, she stressed that, "before she starts doing the opposition," María Jesús Montero "must give explanations to the Andalusian people and also to her own party," and clarify "what she knows about all the scandals that are splashing her from top to bottom."
In this regard, the minister urged the 'number two' of the national PSOE and former Vice President of the Government and Minister of Finance to detail "what she knew about the 'sewers' of Ferraz --referring to the federal leadership of the PSOE--, and if "she found out what the Organization Secretary" of her party was plotting, as well as the "alleged contacts of the president" of the PSOE, Cristina Narbona, "with Leire Díez."
Likewise, the acting spokesperson for the Andalusian Executive asked Montero to clarify if she can "assure that the 'plot'" supposedly linked to the PSOE "has not run rampant in the Provincial Council of Jaén," and if she "supports" the national PSOE deputy for Jaén and Secretary of Municipal Policy of the federal socialist Executive, Juan Francisco Serrano, and "if she puts her hands in the fire" for him.
Carolina España has also questioned whether Montero "knew what was happening in SEPI --Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales--, of which she was the president" as Minister of Finance, and whether the socialist leader "is in a position to assure that Andalusia will not wake up again with a new scandal".
Along these lines, the spokesperson for the PP-A Government has remarked that "Andalusia was already very tired of the corruption" allegedly linked to the PSOE-A, that the community "decided eight years ago to turn the page" and that now "Andalusia does not want to go back to its old ways".
"That is why, less than 24 hours before a new legislature begins or a new Parliament is constituted, Mrs. Montero should give explanations on all these matters," she pointed out, adding that, "if she does not, the socialist parliamentarians themselves should demand them, for the good name of their party, but, above all, also for the good name of this land".
Carolina España concluded by insisting that from the Junta they consider that these "explanations" must "arrive as soon as possible". "We have time to have a clean legislature," she stressed.
