The case of the death of Isak Andic, founder of Mango, has taken a new turn after it was discovered that his son's mobile phone, Jonathan Andic, disappeared "under strange circumstances," according to the investigating judge. The Mossos d’Esquadra confirmed that Jonathan had replaced the phone he was using on the day of his father's death with a new device, which had no trace of old WhatsApp messages. Jonathan's initial explanation to his secretary was that the previous device had been stolen during a 48-hour trip to Quito, Ecuador, taken three months after Isak Andic's death. However, according to sources consulted by Cadena SER, the mobile phone never registered a signal in Ecuador nor reconnected afterwards, which has generated new suspicions among investigators.

A Coincidental and Suspicious Trip

The trip to Quito took place between March 24 and 26, 2025, just two weeks after the media reported on the reopening of the judicial case for the death of Isak Andic, who fell from about 70 meters in Montserrat while he was with his son. This coincidence prompted the Mossos to verify the trip, confirming that Jonathan did indeed travel to Ecuador, but they found no record of the alleged loss of the phone. The Spanish authorities' investigations include communications with local operators, who reported that the mobile phone was not activated during those days, generating a "relevant" indication that it might have been destroyed premeditatedly.

The New Mobile Phone and Jonathan Andic's Defense

The tycoon's son finally handed over an iPhone 16 PRO to the Mossos on September 9, along with the password, complying with the court order. According to his account, replacing the phone was a usual practice for security reasons, and he denied any connection to his father's death. However, only conversations from the last six months were found on the device, while previous chats remain inaccessible to investigators. On the contrary, the messages from Isak Andic's mobile phone, already in police possession, show a relationship marked by what the judge describes as "emotional manipulation", expressions of hatred and resentment towards his father, focused on Jonathan's obsession with money.

Defense and Legal Strategies

The defense of Jonathan Andic, led by Cristóbal Martell, questions the interpretation of the accusation, calling the reports from the Mossos "imprecise" and based on messages out of context or old. Furthermore, they are preparing evidence that includes family therapy sessions and previous trips with Isak Andic to demonstrate that the relationship was not as presented by the accusation. According to the lawyer, there is no evidence that directly links the change of the mobile phone with the death of the magnate.
