The spokesperson for the PSdeG Executive and regional deputy, Julio Torrado, has condensed the political "record" of the president of the PP of Lugo, Elena Candia, into "presenting anonymous complaints to attack and try to destroy people, buying votes to reach positions, and negotiating motions of no confidence in a funeral home, taking advantage of people's deaths".
From the socialist ranks it is maintained that Candia would have taken advantage of the deaths of three PSOE councilors in the current term to access power in the capital of Lugo, after 27 years of left-wing governments.
In a press conference at the Parliament of Galicia, Torrado pointed out that "one must have a serious problem of obsession with power" for the trajectory of a political career to be described in these terms, and stressed that people who become "obsessed" with power are "dangerous" to him.
In relation to the mobilizations called for this Friday in Lugo against the motion of no confidence promoted by the PP, the socialist leader has defended that in any democracy the citizenry must exercise its right to demonstrate. "And if the atmosphere is strained, it is the fault of whoever strained it," he remarked.
After that, he expressed his confidence that the citizenry "will set an example" both in Friday's protests and in the upcoming municipal elections, at which time, in his opinion, they will be able to remove from public life those who "are not contributing anything more than difficulties, baseness, and an absolutely deplorable ethical level in politics".
