With around 80% of the migration functions automated, companies avoid multi-year consulting projects that have kept them on outdated BI platforms
GoodData.AI has announced today its AI-driven BI migration offering for companies in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, with assistance in German and a regional team.
The migration agents can move organizations from Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Looker, MicroStrategy, and any other BI platform in days or weeks, instead of the 12 to 18 months required for a manual rebuild. Up to 80% of the migration work is automated, which reduces both costs and timelines, and GoodData engineers review each change before the client approves it.
The announcement comes after GoodData.AI's expansion in the region earlier this year and its work with DATEV, one of the most recognized business software companies in Germany.

Why migration has become an AI issue
Every additional quarter on a legacy BI platform adds more dashboards, more specifically developed SQL, and more definitions of the same metric. The foundation that AI needs moves further away, while the pressure to deploy AI solutions increases. For companies in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), the longer they wait, the more expensive it becomes to do so.
Under the EU AI Act, the problem is no longer just technical. An AI system that cannot trace its responses back to approved logic poses a compliance risk, and the regulated industries in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland face some of the highest levels of scrutiny in Europe.
The reason why companies kept waiting was logical: migrating to a new platform required years and consultants billed throughout the process. Migration agents change that calculation by compressing the process into weeks of supervised work instead of years, keeping the legacy system operational until all the data matches.

The migration agents of GoodData.AI analyze the entire legacy environment, including the logic embedded in reports that no current employee created, and rebuild it cleanly in the new environment. Each metric is defined only once, documented, and linked to its source, so that the finance and operations departments and management work with the same data.
Users do not perceive any change until the data has been verified. The old and new systems operate in parallel, results are compared using the client's actual data, and each phase is put into operation only after it is approved. The possibility of going back remains available throughout the migration process and nothing disappears silently. On this basis, AI performs the analytical work itself: it answers business questions, keeps reports and informational summaries up to date, executes business workflows from start to finish, and allows the development of the data products that companies offer to their own customers. People define the rules and approve the results. Companies can expand the platform with their own agents or connect those they already use.
The platform operates on the GoodData cloud, in a private cloud, or completely on the client's premises (on-premise), and is compatible with the LLM that the client already uses and trusts, thus remaining independent of the AI model. Additionally, it allows keeping even the results of queries completely away from external models.

The migration is offered in three modalities: executed from start to finish by GoodData's professional services; led by the client's team, with GoodData engineers handling the more complex parts; or through self-service with the tools, work guides, and on-demand assistance from GoodData. Assistance in German is available throughout the process. Companies can present a single workbook in the first conversation and check the migration using their own content.
