Adigital has announced esCommerce, the Spanish E-commerce Association, a new specialized entity that is born with the objective of reinforcing the representation and competitiveness of a sector that has consolidated itself as essential infrastructure for the national economy, as reported this Tuesday in a statement.

The presentation event of esCommerce brought together representatives from public administrations, leading companies, and agents from the entire e-commerce value chain, including Elisa Carbonell, CEO of ICEX, Julián Conthe, Director General of Commercial Policy and Economic Security, as well as spokespersons from Destinia, Wallapop, Pisamonas, and Amazon.

A response to the new reality of e-commerce

The Spanish Digital Economy Association has detailed that esCommerce sees the light in a context where e-commerce already accounts for 6% of Spanish GDP, with an impact exceeding 95 billion euros, 13.1% more than the previous year and almost double the European Union average.

Forecasts also indicate that the activity could reach 193 billion euros in 2030, practically doubling its current volume and consolidating itself as one of the main growth engines of the Spanish economy.

Integrated under the Adigital umbrella but with full strategic autonomy, esCommerce is born to support companies—from large platforms to digital SMEs— in decision-making, regulatory compliance, and improving their competitiveness.

The association structures its work around five strategic pillars: a knowledge center with access to sectoral data and benchmark reports to support decision-making; regulatory monitoring and representation before administrations in Spain and Brussels; and digital trust tools such as the "Confianza Online" seal.

It also includes practical training programs in areas such as payments, marketing, fraud, and artificial intelligence (AI); a community and networking spaces among companies in the sector; and support for accessing public aid and funding channels.

An organization with e-commerce DNA

With its launch, esCommerce represents the refoundation of the Spanish E-commerce Association, created in 1998 and later integrated into Adigital in 2010 with the aim of strengthening the representation of the digital economy.

In this way, the sector once again has a specific organization with its own voice to face a new phase of development.

This trajectory has been marked by milestones such as the creation of "Confianza Online", the benchmark standard for trust and digital transparency in Spain and Europe, and the co-founding of Ecommerce Europe, the entity that represents the sector before the European Union institutions.
