The AI 'startup' Anthropic has announced the commercial launch of a new artificial intelligence model of the Mythos class, named Claude Fable 5, which will be available to the general public. To this end, the company has adjusted the system to reinforce security, while keeping the Glasswing project in the testing phase, which only about 150 organizations and institutions can access due to the risks associated with Claude Mythos Preview.
"Fable 5's capabilities surpass those of any other model we have released to the market. It leads in almost all AI performance tests, demonstrating exceptional performance in software engineering, knowledge management, computer vision, scientific research, and many other areas," reads a company statement.
With this move, the company led by Dario Amodei makes this model available to its clients at a rate of $10 per million AI input tokens —the minimum unit of information handled by artificial intelligence models— and $50 per million output tokens, a cost less than half that associated with Claude Mythos Preview.
At the same time, Anthropic has indicated that it has provided a select group of cybersecurity experts and infrastructure providers with another model, Mythos 5, which shares many of Flabe 5's capabilities but incorporates additional safeguards in certain sensitive areas.
"The capabilities of models like Fable 5 and Mythos 5 have the potential to generate profound benefit for the world. We have seen the first indications of this in Project Glasswing, where the models have helped protect vital software. We have also seen it in life sciences research, where the models are generating novel hypotheses and accelerating the development of new therapies," the note reads.
In early April, Anthropic launched the Glasswing project and around 50 initial partners with access to the preliminary version of Claude Mythos have used the model to review codebases and locate vulnerabilities, identifying over 10,000 high-severity or critical security flaws to date. Just a week ago, this access was expanded to over 150 organizations in different countries, including Spain.
Anthropic recently raised $65 billion (€55.895 billion) in a funding round led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital, which valued the company at $965 billion (€829.831 billion), above the market estimate of OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT.
