Arup, a British firm specializing in engineering and consulting, has closed its last fiscal year, comprising April 2025 to March 2026, with revenues in Spain of 55.8 million euros. This figure represents an increase of 21% compared to the 46 million euros obtained in the previous period.
As the company details in a statement, this progress occurs in a scenario of accelerated transformation, in which public administrations, companies, and territories face "increasingly complex challenges linked to sustainability, resilience, energy transition, and digitalization."
Looking ahead to 2026, Arup plans to concentrate a relevant part of its activity on climate change adaptation and the digitalization of infrastructures, buildings, and urban environments, with a specific reinforcement of its water and energy areas.
Key Projects in Spain and Commitment to Zaragoza
Among the most relevant initiatives that the multinational is developing in the country is the Strategic Plan of Madrid, a native and digital urban project developed with SICE (from the French group Vinci) and under the direction of the Madrid City Council. The objective is to position the capital among the smartest and most sustainable cities in Europe, in addition to promoting the digitalization and modernization of municipal water and wastewater networks managed by Canal de Isabel II.
The company also maintains a significant presence in the development of data centers, supporting the creation of digital infrastructures with higher levels of efficiency and sustainability. In this context, Arup plans to open a new office in Zaragoza next October.
"This opening will allow us to strengthen the firm's territorial presence and support the growth of strategic sectors in the region, especially in the field of digital infrastructures and data centers, a market that is expanding in Aragon due to its geographical position, land availability, and growing attractiveness for projects linked to the digital economy," explains the company.
Currently, Arup has more than 460 professionals in Spain, compared to 358 in the previous year. The company maintains a balanced workforce between men and women and brings together talent from 34 nationalities.
