Iberdrola has promoted David Mesonero, until now director of Corporate Development of the group, to the position of deputy director of the company's Director of Finance, Control and Corporate Development, José Sainz Armada, within the framework of a reorganization of the electricity company's organizational chart.
These adjustments in the structure of the areas dependent on the Directorate of Finance, Control and Corporate Development respond to the strategy of granting greater internal visibility to the deputy directorates, sector sources told Europa Press.
Within this remodeling, the appointment of Mesonero as "number 2" of the financial directorate, one of the key divisions of the group and led by Sainz Armada, one of Iberdrola's veteran executives, stands out, as reported this Friday by "Expansión" and "El Economista".
Mesonero, current head of Corporate Development of the energy company and son-in-law of the group's president, Ignacio Sánchez Galán, has gained weight in the company in relevant operations such as the sale of the business in Mexico to Cox, the acquisition of the British ENW or alliances such as that of data centers with Echelon, among others.
This internal rearrangement of the organizational chart also affects the areas of Control, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Financing and Treasury, Financial Analysis and Capital Management, Corporate Sustainability and Global Business Services, all of them under the umbrella of the financial directorate.
In this context, the role of the "number 2s" in the different areas is reinforced: in Control, with Charles Langan; in Corporate Development, with Miguel Gallardo; in Investor Relations, with Isabel Sánchez; in Financing and Treasury, with Javier Gutierrez; in Financial Analysis and Capital Management, with Juan Pablo Domínguez; in Corporate Sustainability, with Iñigo Olaizola; and in Global Business Services, with Javier Zornoza.
