Iberia launched this Tuesday a new direct connection between Madrid and Monterrey, operated three times a week with an Airbus A330-200 with 288 seats distributed in 'business' and 'economy' cabins.
As the airline details in a press release, the Madrid-Monterrey link will take off at 13:10 and land at 17:05, while the return journey will depart at 18:35 and arrive at 13:05 (+1). The flights have been scheduled for Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
This new service is part of the company's strategic plan for the coming years, called "Flight Plan 2030". With this addition, Iberia will have more than 53,000 seats annually to connect Monterrey with more than 100 destinations in its network in Spain, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
In this way, the airline will offer direct flights to both Mexico City and Monterrey, reaching a combined capacity of over 820,000 seats, which represents an 8% increase compared to the previous year.
"With the route between Madrid and Monterrey, we are opening a new Mexican airport, which is the Latin American country with which we have the greatest capacity, exceeding 820,000 seats, that is, around 14% of the total we have in Latin America," explained Iberia's Commercial, Network Development and Alliances Director, María Jesús López Solás.
To celebrate the inaugural flight, Iberia organized a special treat for passengers. 'Business' class customers were offered a margarita, a typical Mexican cocktail, while the rest of the travelers were given traditional Mexican sweets, along with a small commemorative gift.
