Ibernova, a company specializing in comprehensive industrial design, management, and production solutions for the manufacturing sector, has renewed its commitment as a collaborating entity of the technology center Tekniker, integrated into the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA), with the aim of advancing towards a "more efficient and intelligent" industry.
Both organizations have detailed that they will join forces in the development and adjustment of solutions that allow connecting and integrating key information from machines, robots, and other production equipment present in the plants, in order to capture and consolidate production data in real time.
The collaboration also includes the creation of a set of technologies oriented towards interoperability. This second line of work focuses on building a digital thread that connects and integrates the information generated throughout the entire product lifecycle.
"This integration not only streamlines processes but also guarantees the secure exchange of data between companies and serves as a driver for implementing future tools, such as the Digital Product Passport, a mandatory digital identifier from the European Union that accompanies products throughout their lifecycle," explains Luis Uriarte, general director of Tekniker.
The third area of joint research between Tekniker and Ibernova will focus on bringing technology closer to people through the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions aimed at reinforcing the knowledge and capabilities of users and operators. In practice, this involves applying AI to optimize production, improve internal logistics, and support complex decision-making.
"Having a partner like Ibernova allows us to test our R&D work in real production environments. This collaboration will be key to advancing towards more digitized factories and intelligent production," highlights Uriarte.
The alliance between Tekniker and Ibernova is already materializing in R&D projects that directly impact the competitiveness and sustainability of the industry, such as PULSAR, aimed at developing a set of technologies that respond to the needs of handling, assembly, and intralogistics in production processes with high variability, so that factories gain adaptability and resilience to changes in the environment.
Another relevant initiative is REMANIA, focused on new remanufacturing strategies to extend the useful life of machines, components, and tooling. In this project, both entities apply AI to the analysis of product life cycle information, extracting key data to facilitate reuse decisions and automate the calculation of the carbon footprint.
