The shares of the artificial intelligence firm Nebius rise by about 7% in pre-market trading before the opening of Wall Street, after Nvidia announced that it controls a 9.3% stake in the tech company.

In a document sent to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the American chip manufacturer details the acquisition of a significant stake in this Amsterdam-based company, specialized in AI infrastructure.

Both companies already sealed a strategic agreement in March in which the semiconductor giant committed to contribute 2 billion euros (about 1.72 billion dollars) to advance the deployment of cloud-based artificial intelligence solutions.

"AI is at another turning point: agentic AI, which drives incredible demand for computing and accelerates the development of infrastructure. Nebius is building an AI cloud designed for the agentic era, fully integrated from silicon to software and powered by Nvidia's next-generation accelerated computing," said Nvidia's founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, at that time.

Nvidia's entry into Nebius's capital strengthens the AI company's position in a context of strong growth in global demand for computing capacity for artificial intelligence.

Last week, Nebius announced the closing of a financing round through senior secured debt amounting to about 775 million dollars (around 680 million euros), resources that will be allocated to expand capacity to serve both large corporations and AI-native companies through its comprehensive AI cloud platform.

"We are working in all key areas for growth: securing capacity, attracting capital, strengthening our product offering, and developing other capital-efficient models to scale even faster and at a larger scale," highlighted the chief operating officer of the Dutch company.
