Renta 4 Banco has launched its own platform for the direct purchase and sale and custody of cryptocurrencies, a service that is already operational for all its clients both on the entity's website and in the 'app', as the bank communicated this Wednesday.
In this first phase, the tool offers access to an initial set of reference cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.
The entity has emphasized that the service incorporates an institutional-grade custody system that guarantees "maximum security" for crypto assets and is integrated within r4.com, which facilitates consulting and managing the entire investment portfolio—stocks, funds, and now also crypto assets—from a single account.
Renta 4 has stressed that this new service is launched with "very competitive" commissions in the regulated environment, at 0.65% for purchase and sale operations and 0.25% annually for custody.
According to Juan Carlos Ureta, director of business development at Renta 4 Banco, the launch of this platform represents a key milestone within the group's strategy. "We set out years ago to expand our product offering with digital assets, and today we are doing so by offering our clients the possibility to invest in them in a regulated, secure way and with the maximum guarantees," he stated.
On the other hand, Daniel Alonso, head of the Digital Assets area at Renta 4, has underlined that with the deployment of these services on crypto assets, client demand is being met, giving them access to an already consolidated asset class, "expanding their investment horizon, with simple operations, a global view of their assets, and with the backing and security of their trusted bank."
At the end of 2025, the entity obtained authorization from the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) to provide purchase, sale, and custody services for crypto assets.
"This strategic move, aligned with European regulation MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets), positioned Renta 4 Banco as one of the first financial entities in Spain to offer direct and regulated access to this new asset class," the bank highlighted.
For Renta 4, the launch of this platform constitutes a new advance in its commitment to digital assets, which had already materialized in initiatives such as the Renta 4 Cripto FIL investment fund and operations on crypto asset ETPs.
