The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has called this Friday for the "responsibility" of all the groups that support the parliamentary majority with the aim of moving forward with the General State Budgets (PGE) for 2027. He stressed that with the PNV "the door to dialogue has been opened," while the Executive is trying to "rebuild" bridges with Junts.
"I would like to appeal to the responsibility of all parliamentary partners who, in one way or another, have contributed to this legislature moving forward," the head of the Executive stated in brief remarks to the media from Tivat (Montenegro), the venue this Friday for the EU-Western Balkans Summit.
Sánchez insisted that the Government will fulfill its "constitutional obligation" to present new public accounts for the next fiscal year. He emphasized that "we want Budgets that are more social, that comply with the fiscal rigor that characterizes the Government, and that continue the economic and social transformation agenda that we have been implementing for the past eight years."
For these new accounts to pass in Congress, the Executive needs the support of its parliamentary allies, which is why Sánchez repeated his call for "responsibility." He pointed out as an example that "more than 60 laws have been approved in this legislature and multiple agreements that we are promoting."
In parallel, the president recalled that "one of the demands of all territories and political formations" is still pending, referring to a new regional financing model, which the Government wants to address in this phase of the legislature.
"Therefore, these are two important reforms. They are two political initiatives of great significance, along with the completion of European funds on December 31 of this year," he indicated, alluding to both the Budgets and the financing system, and the final management of community resources.
Regarding relations with its partners, Sánchez highlighted that, in the case of the Basque Nationalist Party, a channel of dialogue has been opened regarding the proposal for the General State Budgets, despite the "doubts and skepticism" expressed by the Basque party in recent weeks.
Instead, the president has admitted that with Junts per Catalunya the dialogue "is broken," although the Government is trying to recompose it. "We are working precisely to rebuild that relationship of dialogue with the Junts per Catalunya party," he assured, making it clear that the Executive wants to recover that channel of negotiation.
