Telefónica has communicated this Wednesday that it will reinforce the digitalization of the operational management of the energy projects of Negratín through three pilot tests in Colombia, with the expectation that this initiative will be extended "progressively" to other facilities of the group in a later phase.
The Spanish multinational details that it has implemented a renewed model for the management of the works of the Negratín Group —an international company of Spanish origin specialized in comprehensive solutions for the energy sector— supported by advanced digitalization technologies that will "transform" its way of approaching "large-scale" energy projects.
The approach includes internet of things (IoT) connectivity capabilities, real-time location systems, and intelligent access control, with the aim of having continuous, centralized, and real-time information about what is happening in the "most complex" energy projects, according to both companies.
With this model, the aim is to improve the coordination of personnel and material resources, as well as to strengthen the monitoring of execution. Currently, it is being validated in pilot mode in three projects located in Colombia —in the rural areas of La Mina, La Tabla, and, "soon", Tropezón— which total 38.4 MWp of photovoltaic generation capacity under construction, around 10% of the group's global activity.
The companies contemplate that this solution will be deployed "progressively" in other energy plants of the group "in the future", according to the joint statement released.

For his part, the managing director of Energy & Installations of Negratín, David Torrego, emphasizes that "Collaboration with Telefónica is key to enabling robust connectivity and real-time management that improves team coordination and strengthens our control capacity in complex projects," and highlights that the digitalization of operational control on site helps them move towards a "more efficient, safe, and data-driven execution model."
The companies emphasize that "In an environment marked by the increasing complexity of energy projects and pressure on deadlines and efficiency, operational management on site --including team coordination, material control, and access regulation-- has become a critical element to ensure its proper execution."
They also detail that the solution —supported by Telefónica's connectivity infrastructure— allows for the constant updating of information and the management of 215 devices and assets on site, generating a flow of data that integrates into the project's operations to facilitate decision-making and contributes to "reinforcing the traceability of operations and raising safety standards."
