The councilor of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition and spokesperson for the Govern, Sílvia Paneque, has acknowledged that "there is work to be done" in the Rodalies network, as six months have passed since the crisis derived from the accident in Gelida (Barcelona). She emphasized that the Catalan Executive maintains its commitment to gradually improve the quality of the railway service.
"A lot of work has been done, but we still have a lot to do, and we are now in this phase, no longer of emergency, but of progressive improvement of the system," she stated during the press conference following the Consell Executiu held this Tuesday.
Paneque highlighted that, in this half year, Adif and the Ministry have carried out an economic resource mobilization "never seen before" to intervene in areas such as the maintenance of slopes, trenches, and other elements of the infrastructure that were revealed to be deficient as a result of the crisis at the beginning of the year.
The councilor added that a significant part of the current incidents in Rodalies are related to copper theft: "It is a very serious problem because it affects the service in a very severe way." She also pointed out that the central Government is working to push forward a tightening of the penalties associated with this type of crime.
Transfer of the R1 line and Joint Commission
Regarding the transfer of the R1 line, Paneque explained that they are "closing" the agreement so that it can be ratified in a meeting of the Joint Commission of Economic and Fiscal Affairs State-Generalitat (CMAEF) scheduled for September.
From that moment on, she detailed, the economic amount linked to the transfer will be established, once the inventory and valuation of the tracks, stations, and the rest of the assets associated with the line are completed.
