The Tax Agency begins this Monday to provide in-person service at its offices to taxpayers who request it for the preparation of the Income and Wealth tax returns corresponding to the 2025 fiscal year, in a context where the deadline to request an appointment is already operational.
Since last April 8, taxpayers have had the possibility to file their tax returns online. Likewise, since May 6, the telephone assistance plan for the preparation and filing of tax returns (plan "We Call You") has been active, and on the same date, the special assistance plan in small municipalities was launched.
To request an appointment, both by phone and in person, taxpayers have a specific service on the electronic headquarters and in the "app", which offers a simple visualization to choose the attention channel and select from available dates. This system also allows filtering offices by postal code and informs the user of the first available appointment.
The deadline for filing tax returns will end on June 30, both for self-assessments with a result to be paid and for those resulting in a refund. However, in the case of tax returns to be paid with direct debit, the deadline is brought forward to June 25.
In the 2025 Income Campaign, the Tax Agency estimates to collect 24,628 million euros, which represents an increase of 18.4% compared to the previous year. For its part, the amount to be refunded to taxpayers will be reduced by 3.2%, to 13,271 million.
Overall, 25,251,000 tax returns are expected, which implies a growth of 2.1% compared to the previous campaign, driven by the positive employment trend recorded in 2025.
130,000 preventive letters to correct possible errors
As in the previous two fiscal years, the Tax Agency will send preventive letters, along with notices in Renta Web and in the "app" in the declaration processing status section, to those taxpayers who have filed their tax return by modifying data previously provided by the Agency. The objective is for them to assess whether it is appropriate to file a complementary tax return adjusted to the information from the AEAT.
With a first phase in mid-May and another in June, the sending of nearly 130,000 letters is planned, which will be sent as taxpayers file their tax returns.
