Theker, a Barcelona-based 'startup' specializing in artificial intelligence applied to robotics, has closed a $85 million (73 million euro) funding round, considered the largest Series A in the robotics field in Europe.
The capital injection was led by the venture capital firm CRV and included Samsung, LVMH, Cathay Innovation, 20VC, Henkel Ventures, Korelya, and Bright Pixel Capital (Sonae), in addition to investors already in the capital such as Inditex, Carles Reina (ElevenLabs), Itnig (founders of Factorial), Kfund -- through its growth fund Leadwing --, Kibo Ventures, and Mission, among others.
As detailed in a statement, Theker will use the resources obtained to accelerate deployments with large industrial operators, enhance its proprietary artificial intelligence and robotics technology platform, and strengthen its software, electronics, mechanical engineering, and operations teams.
This new round closes less than a year after the company completed the largest seed round registered by a Spanish 'startup'.
The operation represents one of CRV's first investments in Spain, marks Samsung's first entry into the capital of a Spanish company, and also represents LVMH's first investment in a 'startup' from the country's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
