Uber Technologies has increased its stake in the German home delivery group Delivery Hero to around 7%, after acquiring from Prosus a package of 13.58 million shares from the owner of Glovo, equivalent to 4.5% of the company's issued capital, for approximately 271 million euros.
The Dutch group Prosus confirmed this Friday the sale to Uber of a total of 13,582,342 ordinary shares of Delivery Hero at a price of 20 euros per share, which implies a slight discount compared to Thursday's close, but at the same time a premium of close to 22% over the volume-weighted average price of Delivery Hero shares during the last month until April 16, 2026.
This divestment is framed within the decision adopted in August 2025 by the European Commission, which gave green light to the acquisition of Just Eat Takeaway.com by Prosus, conditioned on the Dutch firm significantly reducing its presence in the capital of Delivery Hero.
"Today's transaction represents an important step towards fulfilling these commitments," Prosus has stated, which also emphasizes that it maintains its commitment to divest the necessary part of its stake in Delivery Hero within the timeline set by Brussels.
For his part, Niklas Östberg, CEO and co-founder of Delivery Hero, has stressed that this new bet by Uber on the company, which consolidates the position of the American platform in the shareholding, "represents significant support" for Delivery Hero.
In August 2025, the Comisión Europea authorized with conditions the purchase of Just Eat by Naspers, after the South African group committed that Prosus, its investment arm in Europe, would reduce its stake in Delivery Hero, which then was around 27% of the German group's capital.
