The unions supporting the strike at Airbus, including SIPA —the organization that has driven the protest—, UGT, ATP, UTIL, and CGT, launched a demonstration this Thursday in Getafe that started at the City Hall and concluded at the North Gate of the municipality's plant, gathering around 4,000 employees.
The march's route runs through Jardines and Arboleda streets, crosses Plaza del Coronel Enrique Polanco, and continues along Paseo John Lenon until reaching the factory, as SIPA detailed to Europa Press.
Among the staff's main demands is the review of the company's unilateral decision to increase salaries by 3% in 2026 and 2% in 2027, the reduction of teleworking to only one day compared to the current two, as well as the rejection of the mandatory assignment of summer vacations and the end of temporary disability (IT) supplements.
The strike began on July 1st at the behest of SIPA and, since Tuesday, July 14th, also has the support of CCOO, the majority union in the European aeronautical consortium. The work stoppage affects the Airbus Operations, Airbus Defence and Space, and Airbus Helicopters divisions in the various plants across the country.
Within the calendar of mobilizations approved by the workers, daily concentrations have been called until July 31st in front of Airbus's main facilities, starting at 5:00 AM, coinciding with the start of the first production shifts.
Last Friday, July 10th, Airbus management in Spain reiterated its willingness for "dialogue with the social partners" after more than a week of mobilizations, with the aim of "returning to normal as soon as possible to mitigate the impact of the strike on its employees, operations, and customers."
CCOO explained to Europa Press that a meeting of the negotiating committee was held yesterday, which concluded without progress, while a new meeting is scheduled for this Thursday. The union has also decided to register a call for an indefinite strike starting September 7th if no progress is made in negotiations with Airbus in the coming weeks.
UGT, for its part, has denounced a strategy of imposition by the company and the existence of pressure measures on the staff, lamenting that the climate of social dialogue that "had been traditional in the company" has been broken, in a scenario of "billions in profits".
