UNO Logística has urged the Government to extend "at least three months" the extraordinary transport aid linked to the conflict in the Middle East, and to make the "immediate" payment of bonuses yet to be paid, according to a statement this Thursday.
The business organization for the sector has put forward these requests to the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, Carlos Cuerpo, during a follow-up meeting on the Executive's aid—approved last March and expiring on June 30—and on the economic impact of the war in Iran.
The president of UNO, Francisco Aranda, has stressed the "need" to extend "urgently" these support measures for transport for "at least an additional quarter," considering it "unreasonable" to withdraw them while the conflict persists.
"Companies need certainty to plan their activities and make investment and hiring decisions in a context that continues to be marked by energy volatility and international uncertainty," he stated.
Aranda also expressed his "concern" about the delay in the effective implementation of the aid included in Royal Decree-Law 7/2026, still pending final authorization from the European Commission. This delay is blocking the payment of the 20 cents per liter of fuel bonuses for professional transport, which have not been able to materialize, as well as generating concern about "the lack of certainty regarding deadlines."
In this regard, he lamented that "many" companies in the sector "have had to resort to external financing to absorb the increase in costs caused by this crisis, which is generating cash flow tensions and a higher level of debt," and stressed that they "need to know when they will be able to access compensation that is already part of their cost structure and financial planning."
"It is not a cyclical situation, but one sustained over time, with no prospects of short-term stabilization, which is pushing up the sector's operating costs," he remarked.
Lastly, UNO has "positively assessed" the holding of this meeting and plans to "continue monitoring" the evolution of energy prices, transport costs, insurance premiums linked to international trade, and the functioning of the main logistics corridors, with the objective of "anticipating risks and preserving the stability of supply chains".
