Wistron has managed to raise around 1.5 billion dollars (1.3 billion euros) through the placement of 25 million deposit receipts at a unit price of 58.88 dollars, an operation that amounts to the issuance of 250 million ordinary shares.

These new securities represent about 7.30% of the currently circulating capital of Wistron, which has indicated that it will allocate the resources obtained to the purchase of raw materials denominated in foreign currencies.

After the operation was announced, the company's shares fell by 5.3% on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, closing the day at 186.5 Taiwanese dollars, compared to the 197 Taiwanese dollars of the previous close.

Wistron is among the main partners of Nvidia in supplying infrastructure for the assembly of artificial intelligence systems and, in addition, is active in the manufacturing of electronic devices such as computers.

In recent months, the company has been reorienting its business to strengthen its presence in the field of AI. In August, Wistron announced that it had increased its investment in expansion related to artificial intelligence, among other projects, by injecting 4 billion Taiwanese dollars (108 million euros) to build an AI computing center in the United States.
