The PSOE senator and former president of the Junta de Andalucía, Susana Díaz, has warned this Tuesday that "without PSOE-A autonomy in its decisions and the flag of Andalusia in the defense of equality, we will not take flight", after the party's results in the regional elections last Sunday, May 17, in which the socialists fell to their historic low with 28 deputies in Parliament.

Díaz made these remarks during her participation in the program 'Espejo Público' on Antena 3 Televisión, as reported by Europa Press, where she also predicted that "it looks very likely with almost total certainty that we are heading for an electoral 'super Sunday'" in May 2007, coinciding municipal, regional, and general elections.

However, the also former general secretary of PSOE-A has expressed her opposition to this coincidence of elections on a single day because "mayors deserve their own debate, that their management is discussed, and Spain needs a debate where what has been done these eight years and the future of the country is discussed".

Against a 'Super Sunday'

"I would not like there to be an electoral coincidence between the municipal and general elections, but I believe, as of today, that with almost total certainty it looks very likely that we are heading for a super Sunday", she added before asserting that "PSOE is a lot of PSOE" despite the results obtained in the electoral cycle that closed last Sunday in Andalusia because "we have 150 years and we have risen from dictatorships, from lack of freedom, and from everything".

Díaz already spoke this Monday about the PSOE-A's electoral result on March 17, admitting that it is a "unqualified" defeat, and immediately warned that VOX "has become indispensable" in Andalusia.

"VOX will squeeze the Popular Party dry in my land and what I hope is that public services or Andalusians do not pay for it," stated the socialist senator, who pointed out that this scenario "leaves" the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, "as the only one with an absolute majority on the right".

Despite the party's defeat, Díaz focused on an increase in votes and seats for left-wing formations, grouping PSOE, Adelante Andalucía, and Por Andalucía, which together have garnered 41 seats, four more than in the previous elections. "More people voted for the left, what happened is that those votes mostly went to Adelante, they didn't go to us," stated the former president of the Junta.
