The spokesperson for the PP in the Assembly of Extremadura, José Ángel Sánchez Juliá, has highlighted the "growth path" and the "pace" that, in his opinion, the community has taken since María Guardiola's arrival to the Presidency of the Board.
"Extremadura is on that path of growth. The labor market in Extremadura has picked up speed, has picked up pace and, where before there was job destruction, now there is creation of opportunities and jobs in Extremadura," he stressed when analyzing the unemployment data registered in April in the region.
Faced with an "apocalyptic" opposition that "questions everything and doubts everything", he has insisted that the figures make it "clear" that the Guardiola Executive's policies "work", that with them "Extremadura wins" and that said government "has always been working".
In a press conference held this Tuesday in Mérida, Sánchez Juliá remarked that the unemployment figures for April consolidate, according to him, the dynamic in which Extremadura finds itself since María Guardiola has been governing, "of economic growth and job creation".
In this regard, he has highlighted that in the last year nearly 8,000 people from Extremadura have left the unemployment lists, which represents a reduction of close to 11 percent, placing Extremadura as the autonomous community where unemployment has fallen the most in the last twelve months.
It has also highlighted that almost 5,000 women have left unemployment, something that has been linked to the Guardiola Executive's commitment to facilitating women's entry into the labor market.
The 'popular' leader has also underlined that in April the region counts 62,868 unemployed people, which represents the "lowest unemployment figure since records exist".
"A year ago, the psychological barrier of 70,000 unemployed people was broken, which the PSOE said could never be broken because it was structural unemployment. And today, with these unemployment figures, another barrier is broken, the barrier of 63,000 unemployed people in our region. Something that a socialist government never achieved," Sánchez Juliá stated.
Consolidated trend of job creation
In view of these data, the PP spokesperson has defended that it is not a "snapshot" nor an "isolated" datum, but rather "the consolidation of a trend of job creation in Extremadura, where psychological barriers are being broken, where the people of Extremadura are finding opportunities, they are finding employment".
"That is the real big news that we have in Extremadura: more Extremadurans working because unemployment is decreasing and affiliation to Social Security is increasing with almost 420,000 affiliates. The best figure in a month of April in the last 14 years," he added.
All of this, he stressed, "is not by chance" but the "result" of a regional government that "works, that is committed to improving the labor market, that is committed to helping companies to hire, that is committed to ensuring that Extremadurans have better training to face their future," and that "is committed" to the self-employed, with 922 more self-employed workers than a year ago, reaching 81,307.
"That is the hallmark of María Guardiola's Government: more growth, more employment and with the boost of lower taxes in our region. With incentives for our companies, more internationalization and more businesses in Extremadura," she remarked.
Along these same lines, he highlighted that the autonomous community leads the creation of new companies in Spain as a whole, with an increase of 68 percent, tripling the national average.
