The motion of censure that the Popular Party is promoting in the city of Lugo and the warnings included in the reports of the Consello de Contas on healthcare will be the focus of the questions that the leader of the PSdeG, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, and the national spokesperson for the BNG, Ana Pontón, will ask the president of the Xunta.
This was announced this Tuesday by the different groups after the meeting of the Xunta de Portavoces, in which the agenda for the plenary session to be held on May 5 and 6 at the Pazo do Hórreo was finalized.
The session will start with the block of control to the Government, altering the usual scheme due to the trip that the head of the Galician Executive, Alfonso Rueda, will make to Brussels to participate in the plenary session of the Committee of the Regions, the last in which he will attend as head of the Spanish delegation.
In that same plenary session, the appearance of the Minister of Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, is scheduled, who will detail the main lines of the Xunta's industrial and energy policy.
PSdeG Initiatives
In the subsequent Xunta de Portavoces appearance, the PSdeG deputy spokesperson, Lara Méndez, has stated that the socialist leader, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, will bring the Lugo motion of no confidence to the control session, where he will ask the president what guarantees he offers that public resources will not be used as a tool of political pressure to obtain support that the polls did not grant the PP.
On this matter, the PSdeG will also register an urgent question to clarify the real commitment of the autonomous Executive with the principles of "institutional integrity and public ethics".
In the field of public services, the Socialist Group has submitted an interpellation addressed to the Minister of Health, Antonio Gómez Caamaño, to demand a thorough review of the primary care model, with more hires, better working conditions, expansion of professional categories, and effective coordination between mental health and primary care.
Along the same lines, the socialists will pose an oral question about the situation in O Porriño, where they denounce that the Xunta is failing to fill the vacant positions in the health center of a municipality that is already approaching 21,000 inhabitants.
The PSdeG will also bring to the plenary session a non-binding proposal with which it intends for the PP to "expose itself" by voting in favor of the "definitive denial of Altri's industrial project" in Palas de Rei. Likewise, they will defend a motion to demand from the Xunta an integral model for fire prevention and planning that "focuses on avoiding fires before they occur".
Another socialist non-law proposal outlines a comprehensive plan to support shellfish gathering, prioritizing direct aid to workers and entities in the sector. Additionally, they will question the Minister of Social Policy, Fabiola García, about the "refusal" to build a senior center in Betanzos.
The BNG will question Rueda about healthcare
After the Spokespersons' Board, the parliamentary deputy spokesperson for the BNG, Olalla Rodil, has announced that Ana Pontón will question Rueda about the warnings from the Consello de Contas which, as she has indicated, "warn of a loss in the quality of healthcare" with "disastrous consequences for the health of Galicians" derived from the PP's management.
"If Rueda is not responsible and knows nothing about anything, the best he can do is dedicate himself to cycling and let someone else govern," Rodil ironically stated, alluding to the explanations offered by the president in response to Contas' reproaches.
Among the Bloc's initiatives for the next plenary session is a non-binding proposal that urges the Xunta to recover expired water concessions for the public sector, such as those on the Tambre River, located in the Galicia Costa demarcation, which is under regional jurisdiction. The BNG proposes that these concessions be managed by a Galician public energy company, so that the wealth generated in Galicia "contributes to the economic and social development" of the Community.
Coinciding with the proximity of May 17, the BNG will defend another initiative so that the still-vigent measures of the 2003 Linguistic Normalization Plan are applied, with the intention of recovering the consensus on language matters that the nationalists accuse the PP of "breaking".
The Bloc will also focus on the motion of no confidence in Lugo and will demand explanations and responsibilities from Rueda's Executive for what it describes as "partisan use" of the Xunta and public resources "to favor political operations and maneuvers such as the undignified and indecent motion of no confidence".
Proposals of the PP
For their part, the spokesperson for the PPdeG Parliamentary Group, Alberto Pazos, has announced that the Popular Party will defend an initiative to urge the central Government to negotiate with the unions in order to "end the strikes that are paralyzing the national health system". "It is time to sit down and solve the problem, not to aggravate it," he stressed.
Pazos has added that the PPdeG will promote another non-binding proposal for the state Executive to detail how many homes it has built in Galicia in the last five years. He recalled that the Minister of Housing, Isabel Rodríguez, assured during the campaign the delivery of 100,000 of the 180,000 promised by Pedro Sánchez. "This statement contrasts with reality," he stated, to justify that the PPdeG wants to know "where those homes are and when the keys were handed over."
Likewise, the Popular Group will ask a question to the Xunta about the agreement recently reached with the education unions, which includes improvements for secondary education.
The Popular Party will also question the Galician government for the "refusal" of the central administration to finance the free education from 0 to 3 years old, arguing that "nobody knows anything" about the free program announced last January.
Finally, the PPdeG will be interested in the approval of the new decree that institutionalizes Social Dialogue in Galicia.
